Hi Everyone!
I'm really really new to this whole online computer graphics scene. Learning fast but I need an explanation on something I'm seeing often on this webpage. So how is it that I see a lot of models that I would think would have copyright Issues such as Super Hero Models, Popular Movie Tiles, ectara for sale. I personally have several models I made way back when of the BattleTech franchise using figurines I purchased to play the board game. BT is still around but I wouldn't think of posting those models for sale. I could really use any info in this area. I haven't started uploading models yet and it will probably be a while. I'm stepping down from LIghtwave and giving Blender a go as my modeling platform but that is another story. Anyway once I get past the learning curve in Blender I'll be ready to upload but I certainly want to keep myself and others out of any trouble.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I appreciate the simple non complex explanation's. Honestly was worried about getting lengthy explanations that would make my head spin, lol. But ya I think I get it and am glad I asked. Definitely some need to know info in there.

Models of brands and models with logos fall under the Editorial Licence. Please choose this option when uploading instead of Royalty Free, and you are good to go.
However, there are brands that cannot be uploaded to CGTrader due to a copyright claim. Those include Cartier, BMW, MINI and Lamborghini models.

Copyrighted 3d models are sold under editorial license. Wich means that customer can't use bought model commercially. In other words editorial license allows artist to sell copyrighted models (wich is common pratice in 3d stock market) to a point where copyright claim is made by copyright holder, in this case CGT will remove all models that are associated with the claim, and will forbid selling of these in the future.
