Guys theres a FLASH SALE! Up to 50% off! Isn't this exciting?
I've noticed that there are sales on CGTrader almost every week. Because of these frequent sales, my 3D models are often sold at half price. Why would customers buy models at full price when they can reasonably expect a sale to occur within a short timeframe? Yeah I know I don't need to participate in sales and I'm not anymore but what are your thoughts on this? The whole reason for sales are that they are a short timeframe where things cost less and if you miss it you might not be able to get a discount for a long time. So you buy when the sale is going on.

These perpetual sales only have a negative effect long term in the trust of a company because it's impossible to work out an actual value of a product. I had complained to the Reallusion (character creator software) forums on this very issue after several "95% off" sales of there old and crappy models and most of all there other products being on sale constantly for over a year solid. They didn't like what I had to say after some of their more pernicious sales inevitably went back to their non sale price thus a 1700% increase I pointed out that they banned me for the forums.
Big respect to other software and digital companies that don't have sales at all - just price reductions that are permanent.
The discounts questions. Some go 200% up to offer at 50%. Smart strategy? they won´t tell us. I tried and failed. maybe my RealtimeModels are to shitty and not a reference to try out what runs what not. Still a young account. My another account SoccerModels runs better on 0% discount as with.
Also the price offer question. I never got a reasonable offer, most potential buyers want like 5 bucks for a 25 bucks model and even if accepting they wont buy at 5 bucks and piss off. However, if turned on, more sales happen. On Sketchfab I know, they want buy cheap. No matter what it is.. if cheap, they buy. On CGT, it´s from my POV still a lottery.
There was Black Friday that lasted a like 5 days, then another one right after and now we have "Post-sale"... what a joke
You've made smart decision to withdraw from sale-offs, most certainly you won't regret this. People are afraid to quit discount programs here, because they think that customers won't buy their models at full price, but i can guarantee you that soon you will discover that this isn't true. Never ending sales events lost their meaning long time ago, i think many customers here don't even pay attention to them anymore. I only turn on discounts once per year at black friday weekend and i noticed that last few years that makes zero difference in customers activity. So that's that, smart people will try to turn off discounts for a short time and almost certainly will find that this makes for the same amount of sales at more fair price, which equals better revenue. Not so smart people will follow the crowd and will be losing potential revenue.
