Can we use Royalty Free models for commercial use?

Discussion started by pikon103

I am building a game and I would like to insert certain 3d models in it. The game is NOT free to play. The models I wish to download (free) possess Royalty Free and/or General License. I'm afraid I do not completely understand the concept of Royalty Free and General License even after reading the license / terms (English is not my first language) I'd be glad if someone could enlighten me whether I'm allowed to use them in my game or not, and if I should mention credits or such if I am using them in my game. Thank you.

Hi
We will not dig deep in the "Talmud" laws...
A few words about the main events that need to be involved in the world of 3D models, it's 90% of all cases in practical life:

-General license for more copyright. This is the case when the model did the person who specified as "author". Copyright.

If you bought the model, paid the money, and then you have the right to do with it what you want:
- to convert to simulations and games;
- to make an image a method of rendering a scene or model;
- to use in your scenes or productions;

Almost everything, except:
-resell this model as their own, in the form in which it was purchased.

There is a separate case, where the buyer can write you a message and will ask to provide for him an absolute law for this model.
In this case, the model is sold much more expensive (mostly this is done to bypass cgtrader) but the author gives up All rights of this model to the buyer. The model was removed from sale. Since you agreed with the buyer that from the date of sale to him, this model belongs to the buyer. In this case, he can do with this model, everything is possible, even to sell as their own.

Good Luck!
Best Regards

What if you buy a 3d file, print it out, and hand paint it? Can it be sold at that point if its not being mass produced but in limited "hand painted" runs?

Oh, and I forgot one point to specify.
If the game is a simulator or a series of add-ons you're doing is serious and is scheduled to be paid
then it would be good to indicate in the information sheet for this game, the authors of those models that you use.
This will provide you with all the legal rules and regulations.

Thank you for the kind information. I have learned to make my own models and started contributing to the community. Cheers.

if it says its available for commercial use you can use it . If it says non commercial use you can use the model but not to be resold or in a package
