3D sites like CGTrader

This isn't really a place to ask for this, because there is no reason to gave those sites a free advertising. So in order to give you a names I will also provide some details in order to justify their mentioning here.

Turbosquid - greedy peoples - royalty rate 40% wich means they get 60% from every sale you get, tons of thieves, tons of stolen models, tons of unnecessary competition, marketplace that need to be contacted by a lawyer in order to remove stolen models, wich is requested by the real author or the models.

3d export - fixed 60% royalty rate for non exclusive seller, again tons of thieves etc, same lawyer thing as with turbosquid.

Renderhub - max 70% royalty rate if you have more than 200 models on sale (55% if you are just registered), site that have "game rips" section for selling models stolen from games (I should just wrote that, it would be more than enough).

Those are the major ones, and I think that you are getting the picture by now. I'm sure that more people will write here on this topic with more useful information.

Artstation have their own marketplace. I am not selling there, so I don't know how it works and how much sale one can get.
The prices there seems low in general.

What do you mean with similar?
Do you mean similar when it also provides possibility to sell 3D content?
There's quite some of that around but that's where similarity ends.

In actual comparison to CGtrader there is noting ells around. This site gets around 6 million visitors per month, the only one coming close is Turbosquid with 4,7 million/month. But you not want to be on it when you value democracy. Also you would be fishing in the same pool of clients that visit this site and lose 60% on a sale to a client that would happen to be logged in there while it could have been only 20% if you served them here.

Anywhere you go this same problem would be the case as almost all clients scouting for 3D content have a CGtrader account. There could be some additional value/clients on curated websites (there are a few around) but you would need to be invited (or apply) and hold to their quality standards and provide special content they deem not overly present on the web.

Basically you just not gonna get much additional sales somewhere ells and if any then its hard to measure how much of it is you swinging the client that way or getting actual additional sales.

There are however some factors to take into account, for example CGtrader is not that well known in China, Artstation has better reach there so there's potentially some additional clients to catch there (I'm on it and indeed get some additional Chinese clients there).

However, Artstation is highly artistically oriented (a different type of content is served there) so your not going to catch eyes with architectural stuff on it. Your stylized low-poly models however could probably find some additional Chinese clients there. The site also provides an excellent system for followers and mail notifications so its easy to stay connected to your content specific clients (it also provides own website). They also do targeted advertising towards the visitors that browse the site.

Other then that its my “personal” opinion no other site provides meaningful “additional” value over CGtrader.

@tobiasrieper, you should report stolen assets directly to support. By informing the thief, you will only help him mask his deeds better.

i believe CGT is the best balance in the 3d market, although i think they lack the motivation to develop and innovate, the search engine is pretty much shit, the rating system is based on scores, which is one of the most abused systems that I've seen, too many stolen models and very bad analytics, the analytics are practically useless and I never use them, i remember i saw a graph from 2014 which was released by CGT on all the categories, that was great but what we have now is not worth the time of reading.

nonetheless, with all of these problems they are still on the top compared to TS and their shitty support (award wining support my ass) and they have the best rates compared to service, i hope they invest more in developing the search engine and get rid of the freelance section.
