Maintaining Aspect in Models

Discussion started by tcamfred

I would like to cut a scaled model of a 3D car image from CGT.

What accuracy should I expect related to aspect dimensions?Maintaining Aspect in Models

example: If an actual car has a front wheel track of X and a wheel base of Y

Should I expect the aspect ratio X/Y to be presented accurately in the model?

I am not suggesting the artists would be careless, rather, I wonder if the software

programs like Photogrammetery software and 3D Max and file conversion software

is trusted to maintain aspect. / Tom

I would not bet on it, some artist work accurate some not, its random, the 3D software can do it that's not the problem.

Photogrammetry is relatively accurate when done correctly but few would use it to model a car, the resulting meshes that come out of it are very dens and have complete lack of clean topology. It could maybe serve as reference mesh for retopologizing.

You probably gonna get most accurate models from CAD designers.
