Thinkess is important!
I have a question is there a certian way printable models should be created or does any 3d .stl file can be printed just fine?
Thinkess is important!
manifold
Model quality aside ( solid, manifold etc_ you can design the model so it prints easier. The biggest thing to worry about is the overhand angle. Think about a sandcastle. A pyramid prints easily, a tree with horizontal thin branches will not print without added supports.
.stl file is usually used for printing. Depending on the printing method, the models may need support.
But stl file must be prepared for printing:
correct normals,
no open holes,
one shell.
For example u may see my free ring model
https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-print-models/jewelry/rings/golden-ring-with-diamonds-free
.Stl file is ready for printing, except of supports because of different printing methods customers may use.
