Why triangulated mesh?
They look like quads to me, it's how some render engines percieve the quad and display it. 2 triangles make up 1 poly or quad, so it draws the intersecting line that divides the poly essentially drawing tri's. Have a closer look at the mesh and you'll see each square shape of the overal polygon a bit more clearly :)
At least this has been my experience in applications such as keyshot (it too draws triangulated quads when applying wireframe modifiers to materials.)
Brian is right, Keyshot does this for some weird reason..
Really? I think your model is stolen from forza horizon 2 with some modifications...
