My First 3 Models on My Account.

Discussion started by pro3d99

Hey CGTrader modelers!  Take a look at my first 3 models on my site. I am wanting to get into this selling business right now, even though I am only 15, so one to two buys would be much appreciated!!!!!!!

Hi Andrew! I really like your renders and texturing but your geometry on your rifle is not low poly. 30,000 polys is considered to be more in the mid poly since you could probably get away with making a rifle with less than 500 polys. You and I should team up. You look like you could use some help on the modeling side I could really use your texturing, lighting and rendering skills. I think that if we worked together we could sell our models a whole lot better.

Thanks! Do any of y'all know how to fix the streaks on my model? I do not know how to.

Do y'all think they are priced well, or what?

I can't help you much with pricing since I have been struggling with that myself simply because I can't seem to establish what makes sense from the market's perspective. In theory based on your renders and textures you could get away with pricing your models higher perhaps even 30 dollars for the rifle but your topology is letting you down. I think that the streaks are probably caused by those strange loops you have https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/weapon-military/gun/rifle-low-poly I would have to look at your OBJ file closer to be sure but it looks like the geometry isn't very clean. Again I am not sure and am basing this by the screen shot.

Initially it looks like the streaks on the model are due to it needing the uvw texture mapping coordinates adjusting. It appears to have a planar map applied from the side which is causing streaking on the thickness. The texture mapping needs to be applied, not just on the sides but also on the top, bottom and ends when needed. There should be a few mapping tutorials on youtube you can check out.

And how would I adjust them? I have only been modeling for a few months.
