Torvosaurus was a large, carnivorous theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic period, around 153 to 148 million years ago. Measuring up to 10 meters (33 feet) in length and weighing approximately 2 metric tons, it was one of the largest predators of its time. Torvosaurus had a powerful build, long legs, and sharp, serrated teeth designed for tearing through the flesh of large herbivorous dinosaurs. It likely preyed on sauropods and stegosaurs. Fossils of Torvosaurus have been discovered in both North America and Europe, indicating its wide geographic range and dominance in the ancient Jurassic ecosystems.
