Empire State Building 3D Model Lower Level Shops Detailing

Empire State Building Front Entrance

Got a bit of free time today so started to work on the front entrance
of the building, you have to appreciate the art decor design on the
front windows.

The things you do as 3d artist to be precise drew the logo for the
empire State Building main entrance to be etched into the entrance.

Just another update from this morning working on the detailing of the front lower levels.

90% finished on the lower level detailing just few tweaks to do but i
think it’s time to move on to the main body of the building.

Moving forward started on the lower lever windows and art deco pattern.

Just another quick update from today's work, modeled the lower mid level columns.

All most reached the top now and in all honesty you do get a bit sick on
stitching all these window panels but i have the fun bit to do next
details the top half the visitors center observatory and then the spire.

Getting close to the top now around the 79th floor! Here is a little bit of history for you….

The Empire State Building (July 28, 1945)

In 1945, there were flight rules stating that any aircraft flying
over New York City had to maintain an altitude of 2,000 feet (Scott
2007). Due to the dense fog, the pilot of the B-25 bomber was having
great difficulty maintaining visibility. In order to gain greater
visibility the pilot decided to fly lower to the ground, not realizing
that he was flying into downtown Manhattan. The pilot had to fly below
1,000 feet to see the ground and as he descended to this altitude he
almost hit the Chrysler Building. As he swerved away from the Chrysler
Building he crashed into the north side of the Empire State Building
(History.com). The location of the impact can be seen the red spot.

Just a quick update on todays progress finished of the 90th floor and
now starting to model the observatory deck, things will start to get a
bit more interesting and technical.

Today’s progress i have pretty much blocked out the observatory deck
and started to block out the spire i just have the building antenna mast
to block out also. Then i will go back and start to add all the rest of
the detailing like flags satalite dishes, barriers etc.

Just on to the final part of the modeling, spire is pretty much
finished just need to go back and add small detailing also quite a few
satellite dishs to add and other various bits and pieces.

Getting a few strange edges here not exactly sure what or where they are coming from, but need to investigate.
