This model is built near to scale. General dimensions are within 1 -5%. Some variation of equipment locations on specific vessels may occur because each ship is built individually and slight variations do occur. Each model is fully textured. Each model has many animateable features including the 5”gun, all missile hatches, all radar antenna, propellers and rudders. After Flight deck nets may be lowered for flight operations. A lot of detail went into these models. They are available in several different formats. The Arliegh Burke Class destroyers are the most heavily armed destroyers ever built in the US and the most powerful in the world. These destroyers were designed to replace the Spruance Class D and much of the technology came from the Ticonderoga class “Aegis Class” Cruisers. The angled sides of the superstructure are part of design to reduce the radar signature of the vessel at sea. The tripod angled mast is also for the same radar signature reduction. The Burkes carry a large number of tomahawk cruise and other guided missiles. The Burke has a radar guided 5” 62 caliber automatic deck gun and one or two phalanx guns capable of firing 2000 rounds per minute. Each has its own radar guided aiming system. The Burkes have at least one or two Seahawk Helicopters and hangers to carry them. These helicopters are the Anti-sub warfare version and carry torpedoes. The Burkes also have 6 torpedo launch tubes, 3 on either side mounted either amidships or on the after missile deck depending on the individual ship.
