The Tongkonan Traditional House or the Toraja tribal community traditional house is in South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia.
The Tongkonan traditional house which is full of carvings contains meaning, namely symbolizing the social status of the Tongkonan owner occupying the upperer.
Tongkonan in the Toraja language is defined as a seat (tongkon = sitting). Tongkonan is a traditional Toraja people’s stilt house in the shape of a rectangle. Built as a stage house, so that residents are not easily disturbed by wild animals.
