Japanese important cultural properties Ooto house 3D model

Description

The former Ooto family residence is a gassho-style (inverted V-shaped) building that was relocated to Gero Onsen from about 10 km south of the current Shirakawa-go village. The building before the relocation is believed to have been built in 1846.

The gassho-zukuri is a huge gabled thatched building with a high attic where sericulture was carried out. Structurally, it is a two-storey building, but the roof of the second floor is so high that it was practically used as a three- or four-storey building by affixing floors.
