The Barak 8, also known as the Barak II or NG (Next Generation) missile was designed to provide ship and land unit self defense against aircraft, missiles and UAVs. Replacing the gun-based CIWS platforms such as Phalanx and an upgrade to the Barak I, the Barak 8 ER is a vertical launch missile with a extended range booster that provids a longer range of ship self defense.
