Description
Chinese steam powered torpedo
The YU-1 was the first Chinese built steam powered torpedo. Built in the late 1950s and based on soviet technology, the unguided, straight shooting torpedo had a range up to 9km. Later in the 1980s, a passive acoustic homing unit was developed for the torpedo.
