Pendant Lamps ARTEK, designed by Alvar Aalto:
Items: A110, A333, A338
From the manufacturer:
"This elegant pendant light is nicknamed “Hand Grenade” for its distinctive shape. Composed of a lacquered steel shade and an inner ring, Pendant Light A110 provides an exceptional warm-toned quality of light. “Hand Grenade” projects both direct and indirect light onto ceilings, and its perforated inner ring creates a corona effect around the pendant light while simultaneously reducing glare. “Hand Grenade” was designed for the building Alvar Aalto created for the Finnish Engineers’ Association.
The A333, known as the “Turnip” for its organic shape, combines elegance with simplicity to stunning effect. When in use, light emerges through the circular recesses near the top of the lampshade, serving to emphasise the pendant light’s rounded form. “Turnip” was created for the National Pensions Institute building in Helsinki.
Perfect alone or in a group, the small, round “Bilberry” is particularly suited to spotlighting interior features such as paintings or surfaces. The beautiful A338 embodies Alvar Aalto’s genius for detail and is allegedly named after his favourite berry. The “Bilberry” was originally created to highlight art in the house near Paris designed by Alvar Aalto for French gallerist and collector Louis Carré.
