Queen Iden (Benin Bronzes) Queen Iden of Benin, the wife of Oba Ewuakpe (1700-1712 AD), sacrificed her life to restore unity and peace during a crisis in the kingdom. Her unwavering loyalty and love led to the reconciliation of the people with the Oba’s rule. Her sacrifice also influenced the introduction of the primogeniture principle for succession, ensuring the stability of the monarchy.
