Here is a tutorial about modeling, sculpting and texturing a LION in Blender. Starting with a reference image we go throw the process of modeling by using a cube and extruding that cube following the reference image used in the background. When finishing with th modeling we go and add a "multiresolution modifer" and go the the Sculpt Mode to adjust the geometry and adding details to the base mesh. After that we use the Paint Mode of Blender to add a texture to the mesh.
