The designer is Kuai Xiang, a Ming Dynasty imperial architect. In the eighth year of the Shunzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1651), it was renamed Tiananmen Square. It is composed of the city platform and the city tower, with a total height of 34.7 meters and a Xumizuo made of White Marble. The Tiananmen Gate Tower is 66 meters long and 37 meters wide. There are five gates under the city platform, with the largest gate in the middle located on the central axis of the imperial city in Beijing. In the past, only emperors could enter and exit through this gate. Above the central doorway hangs a portrait of Mao Zedong, with large slogans on both sides reading Long live the People's Republic of China and Long live the Great Unity of the World's People.
