Sculptures of Abstraction Racer Man 2, 2015 Bronze Resin
Beatrice Hoffman:
This classic abstract head sculpture has been re-created on three occasions. In that process, its expression changed from ruthless ambition to something softer, more rounded, and more realistic and three dimensional. Originally, this stylish head was indebted to Cycladic sculptures of faces – with no features at all but the nose; as it evolved, first eyes, then a mouth appeared. The rounded surfaces are contrasted with the flat and angular planes of nose and ears. I used sleek, elegant lines, visible from the profile, to describe speed, ambition and confidence.
Dimensions: 100 cm x 40 cm
