Early Civilizations is a series of artistic pieces that seek to rescue Figures and Deities of Mesoamerican Culture (Mexica, Aztec, Maya, Inca) inspired by archaeological findings. In this first DROP we focus on “Tlaltecuhtli Goddess of the Earth” is a deity that represents the earth, gender identity and monstrosity. Like many pre-Hispanic divinities, Tlaltecuhtli has feminine and masculine attributes, She is a dual divinity representing earth and sky, and was one of the gods of the Aztec pantheon hungrier for human sacrifice. Her name means, also in feminine, “He-She who gives and devours life.”
