Rocky is a rock that Patrick thinks is a slug. Patrick puts Rocky in a slug race competing with Gary and Squidward's snail, Snellie. This rock somehow managed to win the Snail Race Competition.
Rocky is shaped somewhat like a snail, but with a rock as a shell in "The Great Snail Race." They are brown in color and about the same size as snails (Gary, Snellie, and Larry Luciano). More or less, they look like a scaled-down version of Patrick's stone house, but without the antennae.
In "Buried in Time," Patrick wants to donate Rocky to the Time Capsule. In this episode, Rocky looks lumpy and gray, possibly meaning that he is somehow getting old.
