It is impossible to name the man who was the first to invent the oar and the boat. There were many reasons that made ancient people look for means and ways to master water elements. The first reliable mention of the boat has its roots in antiquity, about 12 thousand years ago man had the first means of transportation on the water. People have long settled near bodies of water, rivers, lakes and seas. Here they caught fish, which was their main source of subsistence. Over time, people began to think about means of swimming, thanks to which they could swim away from the shore, where there were much more fish. In addition, people often changed places of settlement, moving from one place to another, as a result of which it was necessary to carry all the household belongings. And here people began to think how to facilitate this hard labor, using improvised means and the power of water to their advantage. The invention of the boat and the oar occurred almost simultaneously. These inventions greatly simplified movement on the water. To make a chiseled boat with stone tools required a lot of cost and effort, so in time boats began to be made of bark.
