This model is based off of a design from the Predator movie franchise, the Predator's Shuriken weapon from the first AvP movie I believe, there have been variations on this design in subsequent movies, but I believe that is the first movie using this weapon, and I've based this primarily on that design. These shots go through the building process, and then include a few renders of the finished product. There are two versions of the weapon on display here, the deployed weapon with the blades ready for action, and a closed version with the blades folded up within the central disc of the weapon. These parts bare little resemblance to the deployed blades, they just seem to magically unfurl and extend, hence the two separate models. This version is designed to be a 3D printed kit that will result in a one to one scale replica of the screen used weapon. I'm working with partners experienced in 3D printing to bring this to market, and this will be my first model specifically designed for 3D printing. Included at the end are a couple of shots of the first 3D print tests of one of the blades, and I have to say it is looking rather good. Exciting times, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the final article.
I'll also be producing a CGI version of the weapon which will be lower poly than this one, and with textures, but that will be something released at a later date.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics, and make sure you keep your eyes peeled for when this is officially released.
