The General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the US Air Force. Designed as an air superiority day fighter, it has evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft. Although no longer purchased by the USAF, improved versions are being built for export customers. The F-16, due to its versatility and relatively low cost, is the most massive fourth-generation fighter (over 4,604 aircraft built as of June 2018) and enjoys success on the international arms market (it is in service with 25 countries, in 2019 it was the most common combat aircraft in the world). The fighter proved by deed that he is able to effectively conquer the airspace, support the ground and sea allied forces, for which he received an honorable place in world aviation.
