Here's a blast from the past. This Death Star II style Imperial Hangar is heavily inspired by the hangar we see Lord Vader's shuttle land in, in the opening scenes of Return of the Jedi. It is a relatively small hangar in the grand scheme of things, when it comes to the selection of hangars available on the infamous Imperial space installation, it is dwarfed for example, by the massive hangar that the Emperor's shuttle lands in later in the same film. That said, when you build the thing in 3D, and then walk around it virtually? This thing is still huge!
Insanely I first built this over a decade ago. It even got used by a special effects house as the backdrop for a Star Wars toy commercial they got commissioned to do for Star Wars Micro Machines, (Around the time The Force Awakens was coming out) where a large part of the commercial features this Imperial hangar, and a Millennium Falcon model landed in there, and a kid with his Micro Machine toys composited in front of it all.
Well, this asset is in need of a bit of a spruce up, and an update. So I thought I'd announce this fact with a couple of renders of the old girl that have been done over the years. I have a few add on packs for my Imperial Corridor asset I want to work on first, but then this will be my next major project. I have a few spacecraft models I've developed so far, and I need somewhere to park them after all.
I hope you enjoy.
Oh, and credit where it is due: Lambda Shuttle asset by Fabio Allamandri. and some of the renders are by my old collaborator, JMoney.
