Made a fake set for a product render to take place in, which resulted in unusual lighting.
The lighting in this scene is done almost entirely by the softbox meshes in the scene, and getting a softbox mesh to act like an actual softbox in Blender is a far more daunting task than you'd think.
Used the black background for the closeup shots because the black background made the reflections play in a more interesting and contrasted way, while the white background muted the reflections. I decided to go for the white backdrop for the wide angle because I liked the more striking way the shadows were visible on that from that angle.
At the bottom I have both the black backdrop wide shot and the white backdrop amp shot.
