This was an exercise I gave myself in 2016-2017 to model classic pieces of chair design history(Eames chair, Cini Boeri ghostchair, Mies van der Rohe daybed and the Marcel Breuer armchair) as well as design my own collection of furniture. For the last three pieces I was still using mental ray as my render engine, whereas the rest was made with vray shaders, lights and render.
For the textures on the sofa, the plastic armchair, the Eames chairs and the swinging sofa I used electro-microscopic photographs of skin cells and bacterias as an inspiration.
