A long time ago I made a 3D house with everything in it as it was furnished with IMSI TurboCad 3D. Since then I rebuilt them while some joints had some problems on the trim around the doors. Everything is totally functional because I made each thing with joints and set limits, even the sink works while in the real life version the faucet head pulls out and can be used like a sprayer. That is something harder to copy in 3D. I have been working on changes to make the cabinets look better while it does take the user time to set up so I plan to have sets they can use, while the cabinets are completely designable. You can use any knob and pull handle you want and connect them to the door or drawer that opens with hierarchy. It also includes attachable panels to change the design of the door, so you can attach a flat board to make the cabinet have a minimalism design or use designed panels. I made 2 so far, but I plan to make 3 with adding a diamond wood pattern with wood crossing to form diamond shapes on the door. I think I have enough hardware for now, but this leaves options to add more to the design of the cabinets like in real life where you go get hardware to change the pull handles and knobs. I include on glass knob in case someone wants a flat panel door and glass pull knobs for a bathroom cabinet. I have a cup pull handle to make to finish off the hardware. I made a Spalted Maple wood that is heavy with designs in the wood, from wood I cut and took a picture of. I have wood like hickory, red oak, fir, walnut, blackwood, and birch. Some finishes include vinyl and painted colors on wood.
All the cabinets are made to function, so there are left handed hinges and right handed with sizes like (15 L Base) which is a base cabinet with the hinges on the left, and opens on the right, and there are Base and Upper cabinets. These are made for Daz Studio and at the same time I am making poser versions that uses OBJ files, while the Daz Studio models will have a DSF file in the data folder that does not use an OJB file. So, there will be 2 versions.
This has been a project I have been doing that includes cabinets people can by in a store, while some whole cabinets can be put together from smaller sets. I have a refrigerator cabinet, sink cabinet, microwave cabinet, a built in oven cabinet that is normally hand built, and an upper and lower corner cabinet. The wood on the cabinets are mostly set in different areas for each drawer and door panel, while copies will show the same pattern, so I am making a panel for each size cabinet door.
I make sure that all normal visible sides will not show copies of the same wood pattern, while some surfaces will show the same pattern like the sides where the pattern will be covered by another cabinet and the only one you will see it the one on the end.
The functions of the cabinets are, the doors open the base cabinet shelf can be made wider to the front, raised and lowered for position adjustments, and the drawers will open. Other functions include faucet swing side to side, handle move up and down and side to side to adjust hot to cold. I am thinking of making a stream to add and lengthen to show the water as it comes on and the flow can be widen with the flow. It is just an additional thing people can create, while I make it available. The corner base cabinet has a folding door system that has 2 hinge points to open the door to close in an inside corner shape, and inside is 2 shelf Lazy Susan that rotates with a V cut for where the door closes. The upper cabinet has a lower door for keeping bread, and an upper door with a 4 shelf Lazy Susan.
This is part of a set that has a lot of stuff in it, so you can render a completely stocked kitchen, and show things being used and not just a box with a picture on it for looks. When I make windows, they open, and they can tilt for cleaning, and the blinds can open up or down, and be raised and lowered. I feel it make it better to render sunlight through the window with blinds to show the light between the slats on everything in the light.
I try to make things work and look like real, so the stove has hot burners you can turn on and off, and it makes me think of creating a baked pie for the oven, and I did make a pan with the ability to show cooking and burning around the burger and the burger can start raw, and show it cooked, like bread in the toaster browning, and popup. I think this brings life to 3D, and it is something ready to be used.
These cabinets are a good way to remove the limits of what you see it what you get, and you are lucky if it actually works or has maps to control the look so you can do anything with it.
Some times it can be work to setup, but it can be saved to use anytime, and with anything.
I made walls that could show everything inside and can be in a tornado ripping things apart, or broken and floating in a flood.
Without 3D like that, you are limited, and with 3D stuff like that, you might need to start being creative with it, because that is what it is made for.
You can have a couch with cloth on the foam rubber cushions, and normally it look new, but with a map for opacity and texture the cloth can look ripped ad torn where a dog chewed it up. Then you need something that can do that as an option or create something already torn, and it only has that one look and one purpose, while options can have many looks and uses.
Yeah, so these are just cabinets, but this is my idea to make one thing have the ability to change.
