3D model of the world's first motorcycle. Developed by German engineers Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, the Reitwagen, also known as a "riding car" or "riding wagon," was introduced in 1885 as a test bed for their newly developed internal combustion engine. The Reitwagen was designed with a wooden frame and featured two large iron-banded wheels with two smaller outrigger wheels for stability. The vehicle was powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled, 0.5-horsepower gasoline engine capable of speeds up to 7 mph. The Reitwagen used a simple belt drive and a twist-grip carburetor, as well as a hot-tube ignition system, marking significant advances in early automotive technology.
