Hi guys, just wanted to show you all some further progress on this project. I'm going to call the mesh on this thing pretty much done now, as far as the design and build goes. Since the last update landing gear have finally been added (so the thing is no longer inexplicably just floating there), with the main gear taking design cues from the Millennium Falcon's landing gear, but the forward landing gear also drawing inspiration from the Ralph McQuarrie concept art of the original Han Solo's Pirate Ship, before the Falcon became a thing, and some key engineering pits have been filled with greebly goodness. Additionally I've just been plugging up areas that weren't quite fully defined in 3D yet, such as how the escape pod integrates with the rest of the ship. So all that stuff has been locked down now, and like I said, other than some really minor details I might continue to add down the road, it is pretty much done.
On another note, due to interest I've been getting regarding making this model 3D printable, I'm going to be looking into that, so taking the design in two directions, developing one for printing, which will need to be broken down into parts to make it into a kit, and the other purely CGI version which will also get a full interior added, animated parts, and materials added. So two very different expressions of the same design.
Am really intrigued to see how this goes. Hope you are too.
