The MÁV class 303 were state-of-the-art express steam locomotives built in 1951. It was designed during the war for cross country long haul express trains (the designers assumed, that Hungary will be victorious). After the war they were built to demonstrate the greatness of socialism. Since they were too big, too heavy and too fast for the after-war railways, only two were produced and they were phased out in the 60s only after 10 years of service.
The model is a true-to-the-original Gauge 1 (1:32 scale) model of the 303.001. For the design the original plans of the locomotives were used, thus creating an accurate and detailed model.
It is a working live steam scale model train, with butane fired boiler (4 bar pressure) producing superheated steam, with radio control, and lot of moving parts.
Some of the moving parts: engine (piston, rods, wheels, etc.), openable smokebox-door, functional brake system, and openable water hatches on the tender.
The locomotive is made from brass and stainless steel, and weights around 11kg total.
