This is a 200th scale model of Harlech castle with removable floors. This model is as accurate as possible it is based off of to scale floor plans, artistic representations, 3D scans of the ruins, and pictures of the ruins. Each floor is individually removable allowing the inside floor plan to be seen, making these files a great tool for teaching. Each piece is also individually removable from each other allowing these files to be printed on smaller printers. These files are optimized for printing on a 7 in³ (180 mm³) build volume printer. The final printed castle is 15 in X 13 in X 5 in (380 mm X 330 mm X 120 mm). This file can also be used in an animation although it is not textured. After being printed the assembly should be relatively straightforward due to the indexing pins being in different spots, but the files are also organized with the floors in sequential order.
These files are relatively easy to print although they will take around 100 hours to 150 hours to print, depending on your print settings. Make sure that your printer is calibrated against elephant's foot or else the pins on each floor may not slide into each other. Other than that as long as your printer is decently calibrated you should have no problem printing these models. No file should require support as long as the orientation is correct.
For a little bit of history about Harlech Castle, it is a curtain wall castle located on the west coast of Wales. Harlech castle’s construction was ordered by Edward Longshanks in 1283 as a response to a second Welsh uprising. Previously Edward had begun a massive construction project, known as the ring of iron, involving multiple smaller castles to help control Wales. After this second uprising he decided that even bigger castles were needed. This new type of Castle was the medieval equivalent of the Death Star. Harlech castle is about as protected as a castle can be, due to strong curtain walls and the sheer cliffs dropping to water on two sides. This castle was involved not only in the subduing of whales, but it also played a part in the wars of the roses and other Civil Wars, although eventually it fell back into the hands of the very people it was meant to control.
