Splitter Skid Block

Splitter Skid Block Free 3D print model

Description

Splitter Skid Block aka Scuff Block

Keeps the front splitter from contacting the ground, this does 2 main things:

First is helps to prevent damage to the splitter

Second it maintains an air gap underneath the splitter

These can be 3D printed from tougher material to help resist abrasion or can be cut out of metal (ideally something abrasion resistant like AR400/500 steel)

The blocks are flow optimized to have very low drag, to minimize aerodynamic impact.

Ideally, these should be placed towards the outer edges of the splitter, behind the leading edge, where scraping is most likely to occur.

The blocks are about 3.2in long x 0.75in wide x 0.5in thick

The 3 bolt holes are spaced 0.75in on center

In this print file, the 3 holes are threaded for M6 x 1.0mm bolts and do NOT go all the way through, so they have about 9.5mm of thread depth usable. This is meant to keep the bottom of the blocks flat and smooth for better aerodynamics.

That thread depth is ideal for a 1/2in thick splitter, combined with 20mm length bolts, but you can use whatever combination works for you.

Print flat, no supports or adhesion needed
