Its plan is rectangular ending in a semicircle and has a large pointed arch on columns, slightly advanced with respect to the door, which is horseshoe. Between them, a relief appears tondo-shaped, with the emblem of the Cathedral representing the Imposition of the Chasuble to San Ildefonso under the sun and the moon, hence the name of the gate. Above them a double blind arcade of pointed arches and lobed at the bottom rises to the top. In the middle of the blind arches are the remains of an early Christian sarcophagus of the fourth century. It is flanked by two towers, one semicircular and one square, both battlements and windows.
