This neo-Gothic temple, whose construction in concrete dates from the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century, was for years in critical state of disrepair. The enhancement works were conducted by a team of professionals led by architect Jesus Musa Hazim, with the advice of the architect Cesar Ivan Feris Iglesias, former director of the Office of Monumental Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, both native of that province. It was an arduous journey, which required several years of dedication, because the structure had severe damage to the ceiling tiles, in windows, doorways, floor, columns and other parts of the building.
