BLOODHOUND SSC Steering Wheel

BLOODHOUND SSC Steering Wheel Free 3D model

Description

My name is Taavi Simson and this is my vision of what the future Bloodhound SSC steering wheel should look like.

When choosing dimension I tried to keep in mind the real life conditions. My steering wheel may be a bit wider than others but on the good side the pilot has to apply less force to turn due to momentum.

Handelbars are made so that they fit hands as good as possible. They are covered with leather so the grip would be better. Casing is made from hollow plastic because when trying to achieve world record then every gram of unnessesary weight is undesired.

Starting buttons are on the ride side of the wheel and stopping buttons are on the left side of the wheel. This is so pilots can learn the logic simply and quikly. Most important buttons can be pressed only by thumb. These buttons are: 1. Engine Start 2. Engine Stop 3. Air Brake 4. Power Increase/Decrease 5. Main Shute 6. Back Up button for Main Shute This is for safety reasons. When pilot holds wheel with both hands then there is less possinility for something going wrong.

There are also warning LEDs added so pilot could know right away if there is something wrong with the main components. Under LEDs there is big infoscreen, where from pilot could see speed or some other data.

Under info screen, in the corners, there are two turnable buttons. With these buttons pilot can adjust some things before starting or after racing is done. These buttons are in the corners because they are not ment for using while driving. Most imortant buttons that pilot has to or may has to use while driving are placed near pilots thumbs.

Wheel fixing is ment to be similar to Formula-1 cars. You can take it away and put it back with one move.
