Generally the parameters you'd want to play with are:

  • base color opacity
  • mask layer opacity
  • mask balance slider (controls details density)
  • mask tiling slider (controls details size)

Sample project includes head and eyes mesh (with mesh maps baked from a high poly). Use this project as a starting point to learn where you should (usually) paint the color regions of the face (red, blue, yellow, purple. orange, white), and learn to use this material.

Uses tried and tested base roughness and scattering values suited for Unreal Engine.

Notes:

To reduce project download size I made the texture sets at the lowest resolution. Raise to the desired resolution after downloading.

Enable Subsurface Scattering in the project with intensity set to 0.1.

Make sure all mesh maps are baked beforehand in order to use the material to its full potential.
