Description

This 3D model was originally created with Sketchup 13 and then converted to all other 3D formats. Native format is .skp 3dsmax scene is 3ds Max 2016 version, rendered with Vray 3.00 A simplified model of an RTG lke those used on deep space probes by NASA. Probes which go further than the orbit of Mars face very low levels of sunlight, making solar panels ineffective as the primary power source.
An RTG is a decay-based nuclear power source that uses pellets of plutonium-238 to generate heat. The heat is converted to electricity by a thermoelectric material.

RTGs have been used on the Pioneer and Voyager probes as well as newer probes like the New Horizons probe on its way to Pluto. They provide decades of reliable power to the spacecraft systems
