This 3D model was originally created with Sketchup 8 and then converted to all other 3D formats. The capacity of the B-52 makes it the perfect aircraft to act as a carpet bomber. The B-52 is not capable of penitrating heavily defended airspace, but it can strike targets in by sandoff weapons like cruise missiles.
Yet eventually there is going to need to be a replacement and ideally an upgrade. This is my brainstorm of what such an aircraft might look like. With huge internal bomb bays and pilons it can carry tremendous amounts of weaponry. Turbofans provide both good preformance and range. Though not a stealth aircraft, it would incorporate new technologies to improve survivability and reduce detection.
An huge raydome in the nose, providing both terrain -following radar capabilities and a place to mount electronic warfare and observational hardware. The upper deck houses crew accomidations, for long missions for command personel or intellegence workstations, thus the aircraft can be used in some of the capacities as a EC-135 or other command post aircraft.
Radar controled guns provide some level of defene against missiles or other aircraft, in a capacity similar to the CIWS systems. These guns along with other attachable gatling guns and cannons can also be turned toward the ground, allowing the aircraft to be configured in a ground-support role, similar to the AC-130.
