The company was set up in 2007 by the Orizonia Group. Following the collapse of the Orizonia Group, Orbest was bought by the Barceló Group.In the past, Orbest offered flights to the following destinations: Cuba: Havana - José Martí International Airport [seasonal charter]; Varadero - Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport [seasonal charter]. Dominican Republic: Punta Cana - Punta Cana International Airport; Samaná - Samaná El Catey International Airport [seasonal charter]. Jamaica: Montego Bay - Sangster International Airport. Mexico: Cancún - Cancún International Airport. Portugal: Lisbon - Lisbon Portela Airport base. Under its new owner, Barceló Group, the company might continue or modify these routes. As of February 2013, the Orbest fleet consists of 1 Airbus A330-300 registered CS-TRX, which is currently wet-leased to Conviasa on Madrid - Caracas. It also has 1 Airbus A320 registered EC-LLX, and had 1 more A320 registered EC-LEQ. Orbest started operations with a single Airbus A330-200, registration CS-TRA. This aircraft stayed with the airline until 2010, when the Orizonia Group announced the upgrade to a new and larger Airbus A330-300, the current Orbest aircraft.
