Are they people doing 3d models and selling them on cgtrader as a full day job?

It's just my opinion but it seems like yes there are some who are earning their living selling models.
There are factors involved.
How much experience do you have?
Is your product in demand?
What price range is your product in?
Where do you live?
Experience is at the top of the list as you need to be able to upload high quality product as often as possible. Some products are in higher demand and bring higher prices, like game ready assets and good character models. Products in the 20 to 50 dollar range are necessary. Location. Easier to earn a living doing this in a place where the cost of living is low.
Having said all that, I'm an intermediate, my product isn't in high demand, all my stuff is in low price range and I live in Canada. I have been here over a year and made about 75 bucks so far. Not complaining though as it's all on me.

Love your answer :p I didn't thought about the location that's a good point. I think I'm pretty good and I have lot of assets already made to put on sale but I need to create a good presentation for all of them and it takes time. I think I will add them slowly to see if there is any income coming from them. I've watched your models some of them are interesting :)

I use Cgtrader since march. It is my secondary platform, the first is Unreal Engine Marketplace. When I make a pack for Unreal Engine it takes at least one or more months to finish it. So before my pack is finished I upload most of the finished parts here. So every model what I upload here are(will be) part of a pack in Unreal Engine. I made 170$ since march in Cgtrader. I think it's not a lot of money but its more than nothing, with a very small amount of work(just make a rotation render, and pack the zip.) Substance subscription is 25$/month(since march 250$) so if I se only Cgtrader it is unprofitable, now!

Hi Isoleted thank you for your answer it gives me a lot of indication about what to aim for. Your models are really clean what I'm going to upload is more detail stuff for movies so I don't know if it sells well. I think I will see :p

Models for games and movies are not so different nowadays. Movie makers use Unreal Engine more and more(Mandalorian), because time consuming. So if you want to make models for movies, I think Unreal Engine as a target platform is still a good choice.
