Selling 3d models technical questions

Discussion started by mvg86

Hi . I have very high poly , and low poly 3d models ..

Take for instance this single rock 3d model .. It has 393218 verts . And so this is an animation render version . Should I make this medium poly eg 10000 verts for people with very slow computers who want to do animations .? I am making game ready versions which will be from 200 verts to 3000 verts .. Is that ok ?

Hello Abhimanyu,

This model should have about 200 polygons. You can also Google "How to bake normal maps" or "Normal maps baking" for further info. Hope this will help.

Thanks, are you talking about 200 polygons for the game ready version ? You can check out this model .. https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/architectural-exterior/other/rock-2-a-game-ready .. same rock, but game ready, and let me know what you think ..

Hello Abhimanyu,

We have moved this topic to 3D model showcase, basically because you could've ask the question without examples of your models.

If you would like this type of model to be game ready, I would suggest to tick to low poly count and use texture and normal maps for the detail, it looks very good, but 393218 verts are high for a rock.
I agree with Eduardas it should be 200 or less verts or polygons, and it would be a good thing to bake the maps.
