This week we have game engine updates, VR going huge and exciting new game announcements!
FIFA 17 On Frostbite Engine
FIFA is a longlasting series of football/soccer games, and now it's moving to the Frostbite engine. That's the same engine developed by EA studio DICE, and it runs many of the publisher's games, from Battlefield to the next Mass Effect. So far, this seems to be the least violent game to be built on it- unless they implement football hooligans, that is! FIFA on Frostbite engine is being developed for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, since only those platforms can run it. The game will also be out PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game will be launched on September 29th.
No More Vive Delays
HTC Vive is THE expensive virtual reality headset, but that's understandable when you consider that it comes with motion controllers and room sensors. However, the delivery had been plagued with delays. But this week, a statement on the Vive website announced that all system purchased through the website will ship within 2-3 business days. Vive will also be available at select retailer stores in North America. 100 of those stores will also host free public Vive demos, so that everyone can get a feel for VR. With Steam already brimming with 200+ games playable in VR and on Vive, it looks like quite the offer!
Watch Dogs 2 Revealed
Watch Dogs was an open world game about hacking and paranoia about Big Data. And the hacking part was done by pushing buttons on a smartphone. Anyways, a new game in the series has been announced and we have new details on the way! The action of Watch Dogs 2 will take place in sunny San Francisco, and our protagonist will be Marcus Holloway, a non-white bloke who had also been a victim of racial profiling. The game will feature many new hacking tricks, starting with such small pea stuff like hacking smartphones to distract NPCs to hacking cars in order to drive them into the enemy. You will also have an improved RC car, a powerful quadrocopter and even a taser for those going for a non-lethal run! The game will be out on November 15 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare On PlayStation VR
Everybody wants to experience some of that shooting action in VR. And fans attending the Call of Duty XP event will be able to do just that. Activision announced that the event will feature an exclusive Call of Duty: Infinite Warface experience for PlayStation VR. Here's the description: "Immersive PlayStation VR Experience, where fans can feel what it's like to pilot a Jackal, the personal fighter jet in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." It probably won't be released for regular computers and VR, so those feeling the call of duty for VR will have to attend the event that will take place from September 2nd to 4th in Los Angeles.
Sega To Open Warehouse-sized VR Shooting Experience
Yeah, now we're talking about real VR shooters! Sega Live Creation is partnering with Australian startup Zero Latency to open up a huge venue where players will be able to shoot zombies in VR. Zero Latency's technology allows for a play area of up to 400 square meters, and up to 6 player coop. No muss, no fuss, no wires - the computer is carried by the player in a military style backpack. The guns are extremely cool, too. The venue will be opened in Tokyo!
