Many modelers and designers have to be thankful for free tutorials that helped them take the first steps on the road to 3D modeling fame and glory. Several even decide to finally make tutorials of their own! And we at CGTrader want to celebrate this achievement of both sharing and education. To do that, we are launching the CGTrader tutorial feature so that the community would have an awesome way of sharing their expert knowledge with each other!
We have made sure that the tutorial uploader is easy to understand and easy to use. You have already spent time and effort to create your tut, why should you worry about uploading it? Just get in and start sharing that knowledge of yours!
Speaking of the uploading process, you will notice that there's no "publish" button! That is because all tutorials that are ready for publishing will undergo a review process during which our team will check if everything (descriptions, tags, etc) are in order. You can also save your tutorial before sending it for approval - that way you won't have to upload everything in one go!
When publishing tutorials on CGTrader, there are a few thing you should have in mind:
- Try to be as informative as you can in the description. Even if it’s a video tutorial, cover its main points. Make sure that people will understand what the tutorial can give them and if it has the information they’re looking for!
- When selecting categories, don’t forget to add the two main things: level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and what the tutorial is about (lightning, rendering, low poly modeling....)
- Software list: mention the software you use in tutorial.
- If the predefined lists are missing anything, add those details via tags.
- When creating the tutorial, do it in steps so it would be easier to split it!
- Video: you can embed YouTube or Vimeo videos from you channel or profile. If you don’t want to upload the video yourself, write to CGTrader, and we’ll host it on our YouTube channel and provide you with the embed code.
- Submit for review: we will double check if all the above conditions are met and let you know personally if we find any problems.
- If you want to finish uploading the tutorial some other time, just save it and come back to it later. You can see the status and edit tutorials here: https://www.cgtrader.com/profile/tutorials
- Uploading a tutorial gives you 20 reputation points on CGTtrader!
After our approval, the tutorial will be published for the entire community to see, share and comment!
