In the Fall, we were running a Sports & Hobbies themed 3D challenge. We know, quite some time has passed since the challenge was closed, but we have finally decided the winners and hope to get the amazing prizes delivered before the holidays start :) So, without further ado, let’s see who created the models that left the judges in awe.
The judging process was based on a number of aspects including technical, aesthetic, legal, presentation and overall impression. In this challenge, we had two categories - best model and best portfolio. To find out the best designers in the portfolio category, we looked at those artists who submitted more than 2 models meeting all technical requirements and being of high aesthetic quality.
3rd place in the portfolio category and the prize of 500$ goes to cgseeds, who prepared a number of assets representing a range of sports equipments, playing around with varied materials and creating a truly diverse portfolio. Take a look at a few cgseeds’ models submitted for the challenge.

HQ3DMOD has also created a range of sports equipment - it seems you can now find balls for various sports, tennis paddles, dart boards. And those who visit HQ3DMOD’s profile will find high quality assets presented in a simple, clear and classy way.

In the best model category the competition was even tougher, but here are the best ones according to the jury.
The 3rd place, $500, and a complimentary year subscription to Photoshop CC by Adobe goes to cgseeds and his dumbbell 3D model. Great realistic textures, beauty in simplicity, and the flawless technical fulfilment won cgseeds one more 3rd place, so congrats on that
theojang wins 2nd place in best model category, $1,000 and a complimentary year subscription to Adobe CC for his Leather long track speed skate 3D model. This extremely realistic, detailed 3D asset is a perfect example of how a simple object can be transformed into an amazing CG example.
And finally, the nomination of the best design in Sports & Hobbies challenge is awarded to JustTomas and hisExercise bike. This is another great example of photorealism and great number of details without going crazy with polygons. On top of that...this asset meets all technical requirements perfectly.
Thanks to all the participants for submitting assets to the Sports & Hobbies challenge, listening to our feedback, iterating, perfecting the submissions and patiently waiting for the results. We are now running our Abstract Elements challenge, so don’t miss your chance to win cash prizes and subscriptions! Congrats to all the winners again! And for everyone… stay tuned, and we will come back with more great news and interesting challenges shortly.
