The Future Is Now: CGTrader Received Funding

All the poets like to highlight that having a dream is the first step towards it. So as some of you may have already read or heard, we are very excited to announce that we have just made the second big step towards our vision.

We have recently raised a seed funding round from Practica Capital fund! To those who do not know, CGTrader was launched in 2011. The main purpose of creating this kind of platform was to establish a highly fair and author-friendly marketplace. Some time ago we have noticed that in the most of the existing marketplaces royalty rates for the authors are low. It makes selling models online a less atractive activity for designers. Moreover, it limits the growth of the industry. Therefore, we created CGTrader.

We wish to create a highly vibrant markeplace that benefits everyone, so we offer the best conditions for all sides. Joining forces with Practica Capital will help us immensely in moving ahead in that mission.

If anyone has questions about where exactly the funding will go, we can answer it with the three main directions. Firstly, CGTrader.com will be improved. We have already been working hard on revamping the CGTrader system for long months. It is important for us to make it more convenient and easier to use for everyone.

Secondly, we will build the community further. Obviously, nothing would be possible without the designer community. During the last few years lots of professional 3D designers and artists have joined us. So we definitely will work harder to bring more competitions, innovative initiatives and opportunities for you to communicate and collaborate with each other better.

Thirdly, we will work to expand distribution channels, including 3D printing. Our aim is to help designers make a living by solely creating and selling 3D models, so the funding will be used to help people find, buy and use 3D models more easily.
