Imagination is more powerful than any computer ever made. That is what Denis Solomatin believes. Living by this day and not worrying too much about things he can't change, Denis shares his insights on 3D modeler's life. Enjoy!
Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got into the 3D industry?
My name is Denis, I am 37 years old, I was born in Russia, grew up in Poland, and live in Ukraine. I have two degrees, one of which is a "computer graphics and web technology". I work as a chief accountant of one of the steel plants in Ukraine. More or less seriously I have been doing 3D modeling since 2005. For me it has always been a hobby that periodically brings me money.
What are the most important characteristics to become a recognized artist according to you?
In my opinion, it should be only two characteristics: talent and hard work. And of course luck - it has never stopped anyone!
What tool would you consider indispensable for your work?
I think that the most important tool for me is my imagination. Without it, even the most powerful computer becomes useless.
How would you best describe your projects in three words?
Inspiration, imagination and love. Is it not too pathos?
What/who are your influences in life?
I think that the main people who influenced me are my parents. All that I can do, all that I have achieved - all this thanks to my parents. They made me who I am. And of course the heroes of my favourite books and movies.
How do you take a break from work? What are your hobbies?
3D modelling
is my hobby, so I don`t need to rest from it. But I have other hobbies, such as sports - I love to ride over rough terrain on a mountain bike, I am really interested in body-building, I like to listen to alternative music, metal, hard rock, etc. (one of my favourite bands is Iron Maiden), I'm fond of knives.
Are there any future projects you can tell us about?
I have many ideas, but very little time to implement them, so I try not to plan anything beforehand, everything happens as it should happen.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I try not to look so far ahead. I live today, trying to be happy here and now, in our complex world, tomorrow may never come!
