From Dodge Charger SRT8 to Lamborghini Huracan to… Tow Mater?... his passion for 3D car models is undeniable. With that in mind, we have asked Neubi3D a few questions about 3D modeling, life and everything.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hi, my name is Sven Neubert, I am 39 years old and I live in Germany. I started working with 3D modeling programs in 1993-1994 when I had an Amiga 1200 with 6MB RAM.
How did you break into the industry? What helped you get your first job/sale?
Before selling my first 3D model, I had only modeled for fun. My first best-selling model was "Corvette C7 2013" - it was used in a video game (Gran Tourismo 5 - PS3).
What do you think are the most important skills for a designer to have?
Designer skills? First of all, he should have a good taste in what he does!
What kind of research do you do before you start a project? Do you go with the flow or have a very good idea how everything goes?
I do careful research as well as collect and evaluate many reference pictures before I start. I model only what I personally really like.
How would you best describe your projects in three words?
Rare, powerful, beautiful.
What tool would you consider indispensable for your work?
Coffee! I jest, of course it is Blender 3D.
What would you recommend a beginner to start with and what to avoid? What would you have told yourself when you were starting out ?
Beginners can benefit from architectural studies, because they introduce to 3D modeling software. This way you can learn and move on to more complex matters.
What/who are your influences in life?
Motosport and my fans.
How do you take a break from work? What are your hobbies?
I practice muscle sports.
Are there any future projects you can tell us about?
I plan to model more racing or exceptionally designed cars.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
It is hard to predict what the future holds. I enjoy the present and easily adapt to new things.
