How do you envision future? If there was a chance, would you like to see the world beyond our own? These questions can easily provoke thoughts that are scary and yet greatly intriguing. Well, OK - maybe it's just my nerdy, information-junkie mind, but at least I know I'm not the only one who would just love to take a look at the futuristic worlds that are millions of miles away and out of our reach - well, for now, anyway... Yet, we can still enjoy some great concept art that is made by those who dare to dream.
1. Alienware Winner by Jari Saarinen
Software used: 3ds Max, Brazil r/s, Mental ray, Photoshop, Rhino
Even though it's been 11 years since this artwork was created, it’s still very cool! (No pun intended)
2. Future Station by Neil MacCormack
Software used: Lightwave 3D, Photoshop
Future looks very bright in the eyes of Mr. MacCormack. Humanity is ready to explore!
3. The building blocks of the Universe by Tomas Muller
The author was inspired by BattleStar Galactica John Cavil’s famous I don’t want to be human speech.
4. Explorer by Ruben Alvarez Arias
This planet surely looks like it’s not very welcoming to any form of life.
5. Aphelion by Nikola Damjanov
Software used: Zbrush, Photoshop
What the author said: I was highly influenced with Star Wars and Homeworld but also wanted a more grounded approach.
Well, we believe it’s evident he did a great job.
6. Labyrinth by Jean-Francois Liesenborghs
If you thought it was easy to get lost in your city, you’ll want to avoid this one. Having a flying vehicle helps, though.
7. Ancient Library by Te Hu
One for every book lover out there. It would be easy to drown in this sea of thousands of parchments. If you like this artwork, check out Full Series made by the author called Wonders.
8. Fallen AT-AT Walker by Saby (Szabolcs) Menyhei

When you go to the fantasy world, it’s impossible to avoid the Star Wars involvement in it - but why would you want to do that, when you have an opportunity to see some stunning references like this one?
9. City of Newcrest by Fournier Aurelien
According to CBS research, a person is exposed to 5000 advertisements a day. Can you imagine how many ads would we see, if this concept became a reality?

Well, it looks like the future will go all-out retro. It looks cool, but you won’t like living there when the lightning strikes...

It’s actually hard to find the right words for this piece. Simply breathtaking. A lovely combination of the nature and robotics. You can also take a look at the full making of this concept here.
13. Brave New World by Ashish Dani

What the author said: A 3D matte painting from the “Vortex” concept & screenplay – based on the classical philosophical debate whether technology improves human condition or worsens it, we explore a society which has advanced enough to gain a mastery over the means of travel, communication, medicine, etc. - only to be still ruled by powers bringing a strong social stratification within, resulting into a repressive and controlled dystopian existence. It was founded on the notion of having a “Good Life”, but soon dreams were overshadowed by fears from the consequences of current & futuristic behavior.

In the times of supercars and flying vehicles we can still be sure of one thing - the future of Volkswagen looks safe. Even though they are going through some rough times right now...

Not really the friendliest sight you’ll see in space.

Can’t help but think it looks like a well-upgraded Wall-e.
18. Welcome to Karrora City by

A city both bright and dark at the same time. There’s definitely a story in here.

Welcome to London. 106 years from now.
20. Lost Planet 3 by Emmanuel Shiu
This Planet looks like it’s been through some really hard time. A few meteor hits here and there and voilà!We have an inhabitable landscape.
21. Highway Patrol by Col Price

How in the hell would you run away from a patrol like this one? I don’t think there’s a lot of violations on this road.

We’re very positive this is what drilling to the center of the planet is supposed to look like.

Another lovely flirting with the idea of having everything floating in the air. We have to hand it to the author though - it’s an incredibly nice view out there, what more can you ask?

Software used: Photoshop, Pixologic Zbrush, Autodesk Maya
Finally, this is the future nobody wants to see but have definitely thought about. Frightening stuff.
